Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. It is an inactive volcano with three volcanic cones - Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. The highest peak is Uhuru Peak on Kibo which is 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) tall.
Walking up Mount Kilimanjaro is a challenging undertaking, but it is the highest "walkable mountain" in the world, which means that no specialist climbing equipment is necessary to scale it's peak. However, climbers must be fit to deal with the gruelling walk up steep and uneven terrain and the effects of high altitude.
If you feel ready to take on the challenge of climbing Africa's highest mountain to raise sponsorship for St Margaret's Hospice please call the fundraising office on 0845 345 9671 to discuss your ideas, or e-mail us at fundraisingoffice@st-marg-hospice.org
