The Jude Crawford Celebration Day at the Bridgwater Arts Centre is a day of workshops and performances for all the family to enjoy. All of the proceeds from this exciting event will go to the St Margaret's Somerset Hospice.
The day begins at 10am with workshops in Corn Dolly Making, Circus Skills and Rapper Sword Dancing. The Wessex Lacemakers will also be demonstrating Bobbin Lacemaking. Workshop tickets cost £5.
The Arts Centre Bar opens at noon with an informal two hour session of songs and music with Dave Lowry. This is a free section of the event - but a hat will be passed round and all donations will be most welcome.
Between 2:30 and 5:30pm the Jude Crawford All-Stars, a band put together specifically for the event by Barry Lister, will provide music for a ceilidh/revel. There will also be displays from Stevenage Sword, Clog/Step Dancing from Linda van Eyken and singing from Rod Harrington and Mary Lepley. Tickets for the ceilidh cost £10 (£7.50 for under 14s.)
Between 6 and 7pm there will be a cold buffet for those who have pre-ordered and Mary Lepley's group, the Blackdown Folk Band, will play traditional tunes in the gallery. The cost for the cold buffet is £5 per person.
The day is rounded off by a concert from 7:30 to 11pm featuring Folk South West's Stanchester Quire, Taffy Thomas M.B.E., The Lakeland Storyteller, The Claque, Lynne Heraud & Pat Turner and Tom McConville. Tickets for the evening concert cost £15 (£10 for under 14s.)
There are also a limited number of day tickets available, priced at £25 (£17.50 for under 14s) - these cover one workshop, the ceilidh and the concert.
