Stogumber is deservedly renowned for its beautiful gardens.

Every year since 1982 several gardens have been opened on a weekend in June to raise money for charity. In the last 5 years nearly £24,000 has been raised. Initially, all the proceeds went to St Mary's Church. Currently, although 50% still goes to the church, 25% now goes to St Margaret's Hospice and 25% to the Children's Hospice South West.

In 2012, the main village open weekend will be on 16 - 17th June. Opening times are 10.30am - 5.30pm on both days. There will be about 15 gardens open to visit, ranging from small central cottage gardens to large country gardens on the outskirts.

Admission is £6 with children under 14 free. It covers unlimited access to all gardens on both the Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the gardens, there are delicious refreshments in the village hall (coffee, sandwiches, light lunches, cakes, cream teas etc.) plant stalls, cake stall, a church stall, a raffle and Hospice stall.

There will be a floral diplay in St Mary's church. Throughout the weekend a series of musical recitals, mostly piano and organ, will take place in the village hall and in St Mary's Church.
