Rehabilitation Services
We strive to maximise patient independence to enable them to remain as active as possible for the duration of their illness.
Our physiotherapy team consists of 5 Specialist Physiotherapists and 2 Physiotherapy Assistants. They ensure that physiotherapy care and advice is available to all inpatients and on an outpatient basis either through the Day Care facilities or through a system of individual appointments. In situations where it is more appropriate for people to be seen in their own home, the physiotherapy team is able to offer a home service.
The team offers a full range of specialist treatment, support and advice in all aspects of rehabilitation. This team helps patient by:
- Resolving problems relating to reduced mobility, providing appropriate aids to help
- providing advice and guidance on appropriate exercise and helping patients manage their fatigue
- Supporting patients with relaxation techniques, helping patients to manage their breathlessness
- Provide a pain clinic service offering a range of techniques to reduce symptoms including TENS and acupuncture
- Issuing specialist equipment and wheelchairs
- Offering advice and support for relatives/carers
- Providing education, support and advice for other healthcare professionals.
Referrals are welcome from all health care professionals in consultation with the patient’s GP or hospital medical team.
