Extracts from letters received from relatives
"My late mother was cared for several times by your Taunton Hospice and spent the last days of her life there before she died in August 2005. She considered the hospice as her ‘second home’ and when she was admitted for the final occasion preferred to wait for the ambulance to be authorised to take her to the hospice rather than be taken to hospital. That was how safe and cared for she felt by your staff."
"Your staff cared for all our family so much – providing us with beds to sleep on and constant drinks and sandwiches. Being given the opportunity to also help care for my mum by helping a nurse change her painkilling patches was something that I don’t think I would have been given the opportunity to do elsewhere. Certainly, we all felt that your charity’s belief in offering care for the whole family was hugely appreciated by us all. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all again.”
“I would like to thank everybody at the Hospice, especially the doctors and nurses, for the care and support given to my husband during his stay at the Hospice, particularly the Day Centre, and his Home Care Specialist Nurse, who we felt was our life line during a very difficult time.”
“I am writing to express the sincere thanks of myself and my family for the wonderful care and compassion shown to my daughter during her frequent respite care with you."
"She greatly enjoyed being at the Hospice surrounded by so many people who cared about her needs and those of her family – whether it was when she attended the Day Centre on Mondays or when she was an Inpatient."
"You have such a wonderful team at the Hospice, the nurses, doctors, social workers, caterers, cleaners etc. All of you played a significant part in ensuring that our daughter passed away in the place she wanted to be, knowing that her family would be well supported and comforted.”
