Academic Modules

Through our long established academic partnership with the University of Plymouth, we are able to offer a number of academic degree and diploma level modules. They are designed, developed and delivered by St Margaret’s, and run on a continuing basis throughout the year.

This module will provide an introduction to Supportive and Palliative Care. It will facilitate practitioners to develop knowledge, skills and competence in implementing evidence-based care for those with a life limiting condition and their families, in a wide range of settings.

Communications Within Therapeutic Relationships in Palliative Care HEAB 208 / HEAB 341
This module enables the registered practitioner to identify and develop a communication strategy that will build a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family with palliative care needs. The module focuses on experiential learning and there is an expectation for active student participation

This module will allow the practitioner to develop an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to enhance supportive and palliative care for patients with a life limiting condition and their carers, and to develop strategies by which to care for dying patients and their families
