Pressure Ulcers Guidelines for Prevention and Management
A one day course based on NICE guidelines to develop skills in the risk assessment, prevention and management of pressure ulcers.

Suitable for Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Outcomes:
By the end of this study day, participants will have:
- An overview and understanding of the risk factors for pressure ulcer development
- Increased awareness of the pathophysiology of pressure ulcer development
- Knowledge of how to undertake skin assessment and care plan
- Understanding of how to position the patient and how to use the pressure redistributing equipment
- Increased awareness of shear and friction damage and the use of manual handling devices
- Understanding of the impact of patient education
- Increased awareness of the management of wounds
- Raised awareness of the importance of accurate documentation and audit for improving care.
