The Great Somerset Colour Run 2016

29 May 2016 | Hazlegrove School, Yeovil

  • test

Event Type: Fun runs
When: 29 May 2016
Location: Hazlegrove School, Yeovil,
Ticket cost: £7.50 - £15.00

Sunday 29th May will see the beautiful and normally sedate grounds of Hazlegrove School, Yeovil, receive a vibrant wakeup call in the form of St. Margaret’s Great Somerset Colour Run. While participants are running, walking, skipping or hopping the 5k route, an army of volunteers will be taking aim and throwing powder paint at hundreds of runners, making the kilometres race by!

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. We didn't want to leave anyone disappointed however, so we have managed to arrange space for people to register on the day!

If you haven't booked a place and would like to register on the day, please note that it will be payment by cash only. Registering will take around 10 minutes, so please allow plenty of time, and you will need to fill in a registration form. Alternatively, you can download and print a registration form, fill it in and bring it with you on the day to save time. Registration is £15 for adults and £10 for children with an option to purchase a white (of course!) t-shirt for £5.

If you have booked your place at our Colour Run, please read below for all the details you need to know for on the day:

Registration: Registration will open at 11am and the run will begin at 1pm. On arrival, please make your way to the registration area. To register, all you need to do is let our Events Team know your team name or the name of the person who booked your place. Emails have been sent out with allocated registration times - if you have booked places for other people, please let them know this time. Inevitably, emails will go astray, so if you have not received this, don't panic! Simply email info@st-margarets-hospice.org.uk and we will get back to you with a registration time. These times are simply in place to ensure you can spend as little time as possible queuing, and to help us to register everyone smoothly. As long as you arrive before 12.40pm, you will have no trouble registering. You can also email info@st-margarets-hospice.org.uk if you would like to change your registration time to coincide with a friend's or to suit you better.

Please bear with us as we have over 1,300 people to register.

Unfortunately we cannot allow dogs at this event, so please don't bring any of your four-legged friends. We also cannot permit children to be carried on the backs of others.

Spectators are welcome, free of charge.

The Run: We'll get you warmed up before the run with a Zumba workout! The race will then begin at 1pm.

The course consists of 2 laps and a small hill, taking in stunning views of Somerset including Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset levels, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Hazlegrove School. You are welcome to complete the course however you choose - whether you walk, run, skip or hop, or even find a partner to do a three-legged race with!

The race will then end with Somerset's biggest paint party, allowing you to get your friends and family even more colourful!

Directions: Hazlegrove School is situated just off the A303 at the Sparkford roundabout, close to Yeovil. Please be aware if you are using a satellite navigation system that it may try to take you to the small lanes around the back of South Barrow from which there is no access to the school. The school's postcode is BA22 7JA. The best route is using the A303 from either Yeovil or Wincanton direction. You will be directed to the parking area once you have arrived.

Merchandise: If you've ordered a t-shirt, these should have arrived by now; if you haven't received your t-shirts or have any problems with these, please go to the Merchandise Tent on the day where our Events Team will be able to help you. T-shirts and other bright and beautiful merchandise will also be available to purchase on the day, as well as extra paint packets.

Food and Drink: There will be a wide variety of food and drinks available to purchase at the event, with stalls selling pancakes, ice cream, burgers, hotdogs, chips, carvery rolls, sweets, candyfloss and more! Additionally, following the event, Miles Tea will be attempting to set the world record for the most cups of tea served in an hour. To be a part of this exciting record, you can buy a ticket at the event for £1 and enjoy a delicious brew too!

Leaving the Event: There won't be any changing facilities at the event. While the paint will brush off, please bring towels/bin bags to protect the inside of your car. Please note that there may be a large amount of people attempting to leave at the same time. While we will do our best to minimise waiting times and queues, please be patient and leave in a calm and polite manner.

Social Media: We'll have a social media area at the event where we would love to take your photo! Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see these photos and to keep up to date with any news that we post. We would love to see your photos and read your stories from the day too. Please share them using #SMCR16.

Sponsorship: Help us to beat last year's sponsorship total and raise £50,000 - that's just £31.25 per participant! We need to raise £7.5million a year to provide our care to over 3,200 people across Somerset, so every £1 you raise really does make a difference and helps us continue to make each day count for our patients and their families. If you haven't started fundraising yet, it's not too late to start: Download a sponsorship form here and set up your online fundraising page here. You can also take a look at our fundraising tips and ideas. You can also text SMCR16 £5 (or an amount of your choice) to 70070 if you would like to contribute to our sponsorship total.

All information regarding our Great Somerset Colour Run will be sent via email. Inevitably, emails will go astray, so we will also publish all information on this page and on our Facebook page.

For any further enquiries, or if you are interested in volunteering at our Colour Run, please email events@st-margarets-hospice.org.uk
