Former Somerset resident Doctor Emily MacDonagh has kindly agreed to support an exciting new event for St. Margaret’s Hospice.

The Glitter Run will see hundreds of participants completing a 5k course while getting sprayed with a fine covering of glitter. Inspired by a hugely popular event in California, it will be raising funds for St. Margaret’s Hospice.

Emily, wife of entertainer Peter Andre, recently returned to work as a doctor after maternity leave. She said: “Having spent time at St. Margaret’s during my medical training, I know all about the fantastic work the staff and volunteers there do to make each day count for patients and their families.

“The Glitter Run is a brilliant chance for people to support this amazing charity while having a great time with family and friends. I hope as many people as possible will take part and raise vital funds to help St. Margaret’s care for people in Somerset with life-limiting illnesses.”

The Glitter Run, kindly sponsored by West Country Windows and Gibbins Richards, is taking place at Wincanton Racecourse on Sunday, May 20, and Taunton Racecourse on Saturday, June 16.

Hundreds of people have already signed up to get misted with non-toxic, biodegradable glitter as they run, walk, skip or dance their way round a sparkling 5k course.

Registration is just £12 for children and £18 for adults. For more information and to register, visit www.st-margarets-hospice.org.uk/glitter-run or call 0845 345 9671.

The registration fee pays for the cost of the event, so participants are also encouraged to raise sponsorship or make a donation. One easy way to do this is by creating a Fundraiser on Facebook. Simply visit the St. Margaret’s Somerset Hospice Facebook page to find out more.
