St. Margaret’s inaugural Great Somerset Cycle saw perfect cycling conditions and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Sunday 6th August saw the ride, kindly sponsored by The Bicycle Chain, attract over 200 cyclists. They took part in either a 38 or 75 mile route across the beautiful Somerset countryside. Cyclists raised sponsorship for St. Margaret’s Hospice whilst having a great time.

Richard Wallace, St. Margaret’s Events Manager, said: “We had such a good day with some wonderful feedback. Most people hadn’t even stopped pedalling before asking when next year’s Cycle Ride will be! We had cyclist’s setting off from both the Yeovil and Taunton Hospice and they said one of the best parts was meeting other cyclists in the middle and being able to have a chat and compare notes on the route to come. We’d like to say a massive thank you to all of our cyclists, the sponsorship money is still coming in so we’ll hopefully have a total in the next few weeks.

We’ve been so overwhelmed with the response we’ve now launched an Overseas Cycle Ride in partnership with Global Adventure Challenges. The ride will take place between Wednesday 29th August and Tuesday 2nd September 2018 and includes, London, Amsterdam and Brussels. We think it will be a wonderful experience and hope our cyclists will be up for the challenge.”

The challenge caters for every level of cyclist. The route covers approximately 280 miles with 4 days in the saddle and takes in the rolling countryside of Essex, the plains of Holland and the sleepy lanes of Belgium. Join us for one of the best cycling experiences in Europe.

If you are up for the challenge find out more here or contact St. Margaret’s Hospice at [email protected].
