You may be wondering if summer 2017 ever happened, but even the rain couldn’t dampen St. Margaret’s Hospice Open Gardens scheme. Supporters have been opening their gardens all through the summer months with hundreds of supporters turning out, raising money for the hospice.

Through entry fees and donations as well as tea, coffee and cake sales the Somerset community have once again contributed to funding care and support for over 3,200 people across Somerset. “It’s always nerve-wracking when we launch a new campaign but we’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received, with over 20 gardens opening at various times, there was plenty of choice when deciding which garden to visit. A lot of our supporters visited more than one. It’s been a great summer!  Said Julia Poulton, Head of Community Fundraising at St. Margaret’s Hospice.

St. Margaret’s Hospice are now looking to Summer 2018 and asking more gardens to join up to the scheme. If you have a garden that you’d love to show off let us know.

A big thank you to our garden owners and visitors, the money they’ve raised will go towards ensuring patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness will continue to receive the care they deserve.
