St. Margaret’s Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support are working together to provide breaks and support for carers in Somerset. Quantock House, in Holford, offers the chance for carers supporting a loved one with cancer or a life-limiting illness to relax in a restful environment, either individually, as a family or to meet other carers.

November sees the start of two opportunities for carers:

Cooking for Carers

A monthly cooking class for carers who are caring for someone with cancer, a life-limiting illness, or who may be bereaved and now have to cook for themselves. It gives carers the chance to meet and socialise with others whilst having fun and sharing experiences. Everything made at the class can be taken home.

Carer Support Group

A weekly drop-in support group meeting every Thursday morning between 10am and 12pm for an informal chat over tea and cake. The support group is open to anyone affected by cancer or a life-limiting illness and will provide the opportunity to share experiences with others in a similar position.

If you are a carer in Somerset, supporting a loved one with cancer or a life-limiting illness, and would like further information, please contact St. Margaret’s on 0845 070 8910 or email crc@st-margarets-hospice.org.uk.
