Type Patient contact role
Location Taunton and Yeovil In-patient Units and outreach venues
Commitment Weekly, fortnightly or monthly

Our bereavement support team of trained volunteers provide on-going support to families, carers and close friends who have been affected by the illness and death of a St Margaret’s patient.

Support usually begins on the phone, and we would love to hear from you if you like telephone contact and have good listening skills.  Our volunteers enable callers to talk about their concerns on the phone, signposting them to further support and information.   Some team members also offer face to face bereavement support in individual appointments and facilitate groups for bereaved carers.  We welcome qualified counsellors whose time and skills are invaluable when professional help is needed.

We are pleased to host practice placements for counsellors and psychotherapists during their training, and working towards accreditation post-qualification.  We provide the required supervision and CPD in appreciation of their skills and commitment.
