Candi Sheppard began volunteering for St. Margaret's Hospice at the Great Somerset Colour Run in 2015. She enjoyed it so much, she came back again this year! Candi told us about her experiences volunteering for the hospice...

I started volunteering last July at the Great Somerset Colour Run. I have always supported my chosen charity and over the years have run a number of half marathons for them. I felt the Colour Run was a great opportunity to support a local charity and be truly involved in the running of a fantastic event. It's a great way to give back to such an important charity.

I love the diversity of the events that you can get involved in, from colour runs to family walks, and the teams I have worked with at the two Great Somerset Colour Runs have been great. What better way to spend a day than in the sunshine supporting your local charity!?

At the Colour Run I was part of the merchandise team selling tutus, t-shirts and other crazy things for the runners. I also helped with the paint party which was such an amazing part of the day - hundreds of runners throwing powder paint at each other. I will have to join in next year!

I definitely feel like I have gained alot by volunteering! There are a number of great reasons to volunteer for St. Margaret's - the fact you are supporting a great cause, you get to meet lots of likeminded people who are all great fun, and you get to experience events where you would otherwise be a bystander.

I would say to anyone considering volunteering for St. Margaret's to go for it - what do you have to lose!?
