"At least 3 out of 5 people will become a carer at some point during their lifetime"

St. Margaret’s Hospice offers friends and family the opportunity to attend a support course.

The course aims to:

  • Provide practical information
  • Explore the emotional impact of caring
  • Find out what other support is available in the community
  • Meet others in a similar situation

Refreshments are provided.

The course runs in June and October-November during the day, with a shorter course held in the evenings in June. Please call our advice line on 0845 070 8910 for details of the next available course.

The sessions are free and, if help is needed to cover the care of the patient, or if transport is needed for the carer to attend, then we may be able to help.

Carol, a volunteer at St. Margaret’s In-patient Unit in Taunton, attended the Friends and Family Support Course in November last year. Carol said:

It’s difficult to express in words how much comfort I’ve derived from the Friends and Family Support Course. Each session has left me feeling calmer.

With the knowledge and the information I’ve gained, I have valuable tools to use and to keep in my personal and practical (rather than medicinal) “Just in Case” box. Every topic has been delivered and explained in such a positive and interesting way and there’s been shared laughter and practical advice along the way.
