Wendy Summers has supported St. Margaret’s Hospice since she and her late husband Denis moved to Wincanton in 2001.

A regular visitor to our charity shops in the town, she often buys tickets for our Weekly Prize Draw but has never seen her numbers come up - until now.

Her patience was rewarded when she recently scooped the top weekly prize of £1,000, proving that good things come to those who wait. With an upcoming holiday to South Africa to look forward to, the extra spending money couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I’m not very good at winning things – but this just goes to show that if you’re not in it, you’ll never win it,” said Wendy. “It’s encouraged some of my friends to buy tickets now too.”

Denis and Wendy settled in Wincanton when they retired and were keen to support the town by shopping locally and donating to charities.

Wendy said she supports St. Margaret’s Hospice because she has lost friends and family members to terminal illnesses. She has donated many items to our charity shops, including Denis’s suits after he died in 2005.

Linda Ireland, manager of the Wincanton furniture shop, presented Wendy, pictured right, with her £1,000 cheque on her latest visit to the shop.

Wendy said: “Linda keeps such high standards and the staff are all very good. My friends and I like going in to meet people, have a look around and buy things. The staff at both St. Margaret’s shops in Wincanton are very friendly, which is why I like to buy my prize draw tickets there.”

You can play our Weekly Prize Draw for just £1. Draws are independently held every Friday, with a guaranteed first prize of £1,000 and second prize of £500. The third prize of £250 rolls over if it is not won, up to a maximum of £10,000. There are also 25 prizes of £10 each week.

All profits from our hospice draw provide vital funding to help St. Margaret’s support patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. Tickets can be bought in our shops or you can sign up to play every week by Direct Debit. For full details, please click here.
