Quantock House is a charming Somerset property offering family and friends who care for a loved one the chance to have a break and to relax in a restful environment either individually, as a family, or to meet with other carers.

St. Margaret’s Hospice is working with Macmillan Cancer Support to provide this opportunity to anyone who is a carer in Somerset, known to St. Margaret's Hospice or Macmillan, affected by cancer or facing a life-limiting illness.

While the support and care you provide is vital to your loved one and a break can seem like a daunting prospect, everyone needs to take time to relax, recharge and unwind. It may seem easier to ‘carry on’ but a few days off, or even a day, can really make a big difference.

The house offers exceptional facilities to make your stay comfortable and is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, nestling at the foot of the Quantock Hills. Housekeeping services are provided in this discreet, comfortable and relaxing environment. Freshly prepared meals are provided and dietary needs can be catered for.

Breaks are offered free of charge to Somerset carers known to St. Margaret’s Hospice or Macmillan Cancer Support.

As a carer you can apply by telephoning 0845 070 8910. When you phone, we will need the contact details of the person you care for and their GP, or support worker. If the person you care for needs support while you are away, this should be arranged through their support worker.

From the moment you make your initial enquiry our staff will help you to plan your stay, right down to the very last detail.

We are now offering a weekly drop-in Support Group at Quantock House for anyone affected by cancer or facing a life-limiting illness. These will be held every Thursday, beginning on November 3rd, from 10am - 12pm. There's no need to book, just turn up on the day for refreshments and an opportunity to chat with others.
