Spiritual Care Team Volunteers Type Patient contact role Location Taunton and Yeovil In-patient Units Commitment Weekly, fortnightly, monthly or relief St. Margaret’s holistic care includes care for the whole person – body, mind and spirit. Spiritual Care honours the human as well as the divine spirit and cares for each individual as a spiritual person, however they express their spirit. Volunteers support the Spiritual Care Coordinator and contribute to the care given to patients and those important to them by the multidisciplinary team of staff. They care alongside paid staff on the Yeovil and Taunton In-patient Units and support patients and their families who come to our two Sunflower Day Centres. We ask that Spiritual Care volunteers have good listening skills, an openness to provide the space in which personal stories may evolve and be heard, and an understanding of what gives meaning to their own lives; also that volunteers are computer literate. Training and support is provided by the Spiritual Care Coordinator.
