Will you help us give hope to young families facing the loss of a loved one?

As a mum, telling my two young children that their daddy was terminally ill is one of the hardest conversations I have ever had. Rachel was six years old at the time, and James was only three.

I knew I needed help, and luckily I received that help from St. Margaret’s Hospice Young Family Support Service.

Penny, the Family Support Worker at St. Margaret’s Hospice, helped me realise I had to overcome my own fears about telling the children. She helped us to talk to the children about what was happening so that they could be prepared for the worst moment of their young lives.

Will you help make sure every child facing the loss of a parent receives this support?

The sad truth is that more and more children like James and Rachel lose a parent every year in Somerset, and St. Margaret’s Hospice would like to reach all families.

The cost of the Young Family Support Service isn’t covered by NHS funding.

The support they provide is so vital for helping families like mine to come through bereavement and face the future with hope. Every soft toy, family counselling session or training in a school is paid for by the generosity of people like you.

Please join me by supporting this appeal, and help St. Margaret’s Hospice expand its Young Family Support Service to reach every child who needs help coping with the loss of someone they love. Your gift would make such a difference.
